What happens if I do not complete the E-Verification of my Income Tax Return (ITR) within 30 days?
If you fail to complete the E-Verification of your Income Tax Return within the 30 days, you still have the option to carry out the E-Verification process. However, if you perform the E-Verification after 30 days, it will be treated that you filed your ITR on the day when you actually verified it. Consequently, you may become subject to late filing fees, with amounts of Rs 1,000 or Rs 5,000 as the case may be.
To avoid incurring such penalties, it is essential to ensure that you verify your ITR within the 30 days following the filing of your return.
